Requirements

...

Configurable options like materials, dimensions, and custom fields for specific customer details.

...

...

Quote Creation: Sales team configures products within Salesforce, with automated pricing based on predefined rules.

...

Order Conversion: Approved quotes convert into GF sales orders, syncing product and customer data

Option 1: Out-of-the-Box Solution

GoldFinch Product Configurator

  • Finished goods must be created in GoldFinch and synced to Salesforce for quoting.

  • Since LabelX may quote hundreds of custom items per customer (many of which won't lead to actual orders), there’s a concern about cluttering the item table with unused items.

...

Option 2: Custom Solution Using Salesforce Opportunity and Salesforce Quote

Proposed Customization:

  • Add a “Configure New Product” button to the Salesforce Quote page, allowing for custom selections like material, width, and length.

  • Automate item numbering and descriptions.

  • Set up configurable price books.

Key Challenges:

  • Pricing for products not yet created.

  • Quantity-based pricing breaks.

  • One-way or two-way syncing to the GoldFinch Sales Price table?

Process Flow:

  1. Sync the sales quote with the Salesforce Opportunity.

  2. Generate GoldFinch Sales Orders from Closed-Won opportunities.

  3. Create new items if they don’t already exist.

  4. Establish item formulas and routings based on preset rules.

Note: All raw material items still need to be created in GoldFinch and will not sync back to Salesforce.

Option 3: Salesforce Opportunity and GoldFinch Sales Quote Integration

Approach:

  • Use the GoldFinch Product Configurator directly in the GoldFinch Sales Quote.

    • Customization hours are much lower

  • Bypass Salesforce Products and Price Book entirely.

Advantages:

  • Minimal customizations are required.

  • Reduced data sync between systems, lowering maintenance needs.

  • Greater flexibility in sales price configuration.

Disadvantages:

  • All quoted items appear in the item list, even if they don’t convert to sales orders.

  • Requires GoldFinch licenses for Sales Reps, though limited licenses are available at a reduced cost.
