Enter Production Output
Overview
After creating a Production Item Journal from the Work Order, you can enter the production output for the manufactured item by editing the Output Quantity. If you're dealing with Batch Manufactured items, refer to this page for more specific instructions.
Steps to Enter the Output
Edit the Production Journal
After creating the Production Journal, you can update the details for the output.
Update the Output Quantity
Change the Output Quantity as needed based on actual production output.
Verify Output Warehouse and Bin
Ensure that the Output Warehouse and Output Bin fields are correct.
Note: If you are receiving finished goods in your warehouse but consuming raw materials from a co-packer’s warehouse, set the co-packer's warehouse on the Work Order and then change the Output Warehouse on the Production Journal to your own warehouse. This eliminates the need for a Transfer Order step.
For Lot-Tracked Items
If your output items are lot-tracked, click on Output Tracking Lines and then click Add Tracking Lines to enter Lot Numbers for the output items.
Handling Overproduction
If the Output Quantity exceeds the Work Order Quantity, you can update the PO Qty. Tolerance % for the output item to allow the system to accept the higher quantity.
Enter Output Tracking Lines (For Lot-Tracked Items)
When dealing with lot-tracked items, follow these steps to ensure correct tracking:
Enter Lot Numbers and verify the Unit of Measure.
Enter the Quantity for each Lot Number.
Lot Manufacture Date: Defaulted to today’s date but can be adjusted.
Lot Expiration Date: Defaulted to today’s date + the value in the Lot Days to Expire field on the Item setup.
Country of Origin: (Optional) Select if applicable.
Final Step: Save the Production Journal
Once all the necessary output and tracking information has been entered, save the Production Journal. This completes the process for recording production output and ensuring inventory is accurately updated in GoldFinch.
