Plan by Purchasing Agents
Overview
For companies managing a large number of SKUs, it is recommended to enable the Plan by Purchasing Agent feature. This helps streamline the supply planning process by allowing you to filter and manage SKUs based on the assigned Purchasing Agent.
Steps to Enable and Configure Plan by Purchasing Agent:
Check the Plan by Purchasing Agent Field:
Navigate to the Demand Planning Setup and check the Plan by Purchasing Agent field.
Populate Purchasing Agent on SKUs:
Ensure each SKU has an assigned Purchasing Agent to facilitate accurate filtering during supply planning.
Set Default Purchasing Agent:
On the User Setup record, enter the default Purchasing Agent.
Link the User Setup record with a Salesforce user.
If a Salesforce user is deactivated, you can reassign the Purchasing Agent to another Salesforce user without updating individual SKUs.
Supply Plan Calculation:
When calculating the supply plan, the Purchasing Agent is automatically populated in the request window. You can manually change the Purchasing Agent before running the function if necessary.
Additional Planning Options:
Filter by Preferred Vendor:
When the Plan by Purchasing Agent feature is enabled, you can further filter SKUs by Preferred Vendor. If you leave the Preferred Vendor field blank, all vendors will be included in the supply plan.
Item Category Filtering:
Use the Item Category field if you need to troubleshoot supply planning for a specific category. To calculate a complete supply plan based on total demand and supply, leave this field blank.
Supply Plan Behavior:
Deleting Supply Plan Lines:
The Supply Plan will delete only the existing Supply Plan Lines and Calculation Lines for the defined Purchasing Agent. Lines for other Purchasing Agents will remain intact.
Managing Multiple Purchasing Agents:
You can create multiple List Views by Purchasing Agent on both Supply Plan and Calculation Lines. This allows for the planning of multiple Purchasing Agents, helping to accommodate larger teams or varied responsibilities.
Enabling and using the Plan by Purchasing Agent feature allows for more organized and efficient supply planning, especially in companies with a high number of SKUs or multiple Purchasing Agents.
