Product Configurator

Overview

The Product Configurator allows you to build items by selecting various options and automatically generates the corresponding Item Formulas (BOM) and Item Routings based on these unique combinations.

Initial Setup

• Enable the Product Configurator:
  Go to the Company Setup and select the Use Product Configurator option to activate the feature.

• Access Configurator Fields:
  After activation, 10 pre-configured configurator fields will appear on the New Item page for you to choose from.

Define Picklist Values

1. Create Picklist Values:
   Go to the Item object to define picklist values for the 10 configurator fields. These values are global and can be utilized in both the Item object and the Item Configuration object.

2. Naming Conventions:

   • Values will be concatenated to generate the Item Description field.

   • API Names will be concatenated to form the Item Number.

3. Setting Dependencies:
   You can define dependencies between picklist values for different configurator fields to control available options.

Setting Up Item Configurations

The Item Configurations object allows you to define default Item Formulas or Item Routings for each configurator field.

Once a new item is created, the corresponding Item Formula and Item Routing are automatically generated based on the predefined Item Configuration object.

Customizing Field Labels

Administrators can modify the default field labels for configurator fields in both the Item and Item Configuration objects. For further details, visit: GoldFinch Help - Field Customization.
